Real Name: Dr. Michael Morbius
At his peak, Morbius has enough superhuman strength to lift approximately 1,500 lbs and Super Speed. Morbius can run and move at speeds that would make Usain Bolt look like he was standing still.
As you can see he’s kind of the perfect athlete. Super strong without the massive amount of muscle that usually slows us down and effects speed and agility. It’s the best of both worlds. So how do we get YOU there since you are still just a human? The simple answer is we are going to stick to the big compound lifts for that superhuman strength and lots of power movements for the explosiveness, then to round it all out we have some not so traditional training to keep you agile and ready for anything life throws at you.
Day 1
On day one we’re gonna hit the biggest muscles in the body. That’s right, legs. So for all you leg day skippers, you might as well not even finish reading. As a matter fact, get the hell off my website. Just kidding, sit down and learn something. Now if you physically can’t train legs, then that’s OK, you can continue on with upper body and this routine will make you strong enough to throw people like a javelin.
So if want to be fast and strong like Morbius you have to remember that most of your power is going to come from your lower body and that’s why our leg day is going to be very difficult. This is what’s going to give you the ability to lift heavy things, jump super high and run at speeds no one else can. If you wanna be like Morbius then you have to train like Morbius and this is how you do it.
DAY 1: MORBIUS LEG DAY:
- Squat plus chains. Working his way up to a top heavy set of 5, leaving 1-2 reps in the tank.* He would probably start his working sets at 70-75% and work up to 80-85%. The Chains should be set up to where all weight is de-loaded at the bottom of lift and full chain at top with a little chain on the floor so it doesn’t swing.
- Box Jumps. 5 x 5 – 1 min rest
- GHR (Glute Ham Raise). 4 x 12. Alternate Seated Leg Curl.
- Super set: Standing calf raises 5 x 12-15 and Weighted crunches 5 x 10-15
- Prowler push sprints 10 x 40 yards. Alternate treadmill push with treadmill off
Day 2
- Shoulder width grip Bench Press. working his way up to a heavy set of 5, leaving 1-2 reps in the tank, then dropping the weight and doing 2 x 12. He would probably mix up his grip week to week, and even change up the range of motion with boards or pins.
- Weighted Dips. 3 x 8, Drop set 1 x failure.
- Plyo push-ups. Now that he built up a ton of Power with the other exercises now he needs to be a little faster. That’s where the plyo push-ups come in. 5 x 8-10 reps is where he would most likely train.
- Weighted Side Planks 5 x 30 sec – 1min
- Incline Sprints. 10-15 x 10 sec with 30 sec -1 min rest.
Day 3
- Trap Bar Deadlift. Working up to a heavy set of five, leaving two reps in the tank. Dropping weight and doing 2 x 12. Most likely use chains on this exercise as well but in a hurry there wouldn’t be chains on the bad guys and sometimes you just gotta rip someone off the ground, lol. A good alternative for this is regular deadlift, kettlebell dead lift or even 45° back extension. There’s nothing he would leave off the table. Morbius would train for everything. You can even try power cleans here.
- Barbell rows. 4 x 12
- Inverted row with straps. 4 x max reps
- Weighted Pull ups or pull downs. 4 x 8-12
- Hanging leg raises, feet to bar. 4 x 15. Because bats like hanging upside down.
Day 4
- Push press 3 x 12
- Super set: Lateral raises 3 x 12, and Reverse pec deck machine or band pull apart 3 x 12
- Super set: Standing dumbbell curls 4 x 12 and Rope tricep cable push downs 4 x 12
- Super set: Cable Curls 4 x 15 and Lying Tricep Ext with EZ bar 4 x 15
- Hanging from a bar with fat grips or other grip work. 4 x failure.
Now this is just a sample week of what I think Morbius the characters’ training week would look like. It would obviously vary from week to week and month to month being that he’s a fictional character with superhuman abilities. Plus he wouldn’t really need to train anyway but if a human wanted to at least train something like him, this is what I think it would look like.
On a side note I think cardio has its place in this particular characters regimen but it would look something like rock climbing, sprinting or even parkour. It wouldn’t be the typical steady state cardio like jogging. He’s far too explosive of a character for that. Being said, have fun with the program and pay attention to the foundation of it.
Things you should remember for the Morbius Workout.
- Technique comes first above all else.
- Morbius is not only strong but also agile, so don’t neglect one for the other.
- Try different things. Grips, bars, chains, bands, different types of cardio. Hell take up jujitsu or mixed martial arts all together.
- Keep a training log so you can monitor progress, or see what went wrong.
- Don’t neglect your diet.
- Always ask your Doctor if it’s safe for you to start any exercise routine.
